Semliki National Park Accommodation
Semliki Safari Lodge is run by a private concessionaire the Uganda Safari company that offers upmarket tented camp. Semliki National Park covers 220 km2 with an altitude of 670-760m above sea level, Semliki forest reserve was created in 1932 and upgraded to National Park status in 1993. It is the only tract of true lowland tropical forest in East Africa hosting 441 recorded bird species and 53 mammal species. Four distinct ethnic groups live near Semliki National Park Bwamba farmers live along the base of the Rwenzori Mountains while the Bakonjo cultivate on the mountain slopes, Batuku are cattle keepers that inhabit the open plains and Batwa pygmies traditionally are meant to be hunter and fruit gatherers these live on the edge of the forest.
Semliki Safari Lodge is situated in the Semliki Valley Wildlife Reserve, formerly called the Toro Game Reserve, in the Western Rift Valley. It is the only accommodation in over 500 square kilometers of wilderness, offering a truly private experience.
Semliki Safari Lodge is built out of local materials, the lodge has a traditional rustic quality without losing all important comfort. Guests stay in large canvas tents with permanent thatched roofs. Each tent includes an en-suite bathroom with running water and a private veranda with stunning panoramic views.
The food at the lodge has often been referred to as the ‘best food in Uganda’ and everything is freshly made, from the bread baked daily, to the soups, the relishes and chutneys. While at the lodge you may choose to do nothing more than relax by the pool which overlooks the mountains, or partake in a number of activities that we offers.
