Gishwati Mukura National Park

Gishwati Mukura is the newest 4th National park which is located in Ngororero and Rutsiro districts in the Western province of Rwanda. Gishwati-Mukura National Park was gazetted in February 2016 as Park on an area of approximately 3,558 hectares, this came after passing the law in September 2015 to have a joint National between Gishwati and Mukura forest. Gishwati Mukura National Park is famously known for its diverse plant species which counts cover 60 species of trees such as the bamboo and wood and a big number of Rwanda safari wildlife species, around 84 bird species.

How to get to Gishwati Mukura National Park

Gishwati Mukura National Park is found in Northwestern province of Rwanda in Ngororero district with about 2-3 hours drive from Kigali the capital of Rwanda which offers you a spectacular view. And one can also opt to use air transport which is about 45 minutes. Visiting the Gishwati Mukura National Park one can also tie with Rwanda gorilla safari in Volcano National Park, game drive in Akagera National Park or chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National Park.

Gishwati Mukura National Park has a small number of accommodation facilities to spend a night at. And some of them can be the same used while on a visit to Nyungwe forest but the most recommended one on a visit to Gishwati Mukura is the Gishwati lodge and also there are campsites for budget travelers.
