Flying in Bwindi Gorilla Safaris


It is now possible to fly in to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking/habituation with the new services of Aerolink to Kihihi Airstrip.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in south west of Uganda and its home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas over 400 mountain gorillas which famous for the Gorilla trekking.

Kihihi Airstrip

Kihihi airstrip is the closest domestic air port in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and is the luxury transport for one who wants to reach faster at the Park which takes approximately one hour and 20 minutes from Entebbe international air port. Visiting Bwindi National Park using air transport is the best way for everyone who enjoys short journeys which last 1 hour and 20mins and those who can’t handle approximately 9 hours drive from Entebbe international Airport.
Kihihi airstrips connecting to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park especially the Buhoma sector which takes about 40mins to Park headquarters, Kihihi airstrip serves the Ishasha part of Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Aerolink operates two flights from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip which is just a one hour and twenty minutes.

Flight schedules

The morning flight departs Entebbe International Airport at 7:30am and arrives at 9:10am while the afternoon flight departs Entebbe at 12:30pm and arrives at Kihihi 1:50pm. From Bwindi impenetrable National Park, morning flight departs Kihihi at 9:30am and arrives at Entebbe International Airport at 10:50am. The afternoon flight departs Kihihi Airfield at 2:05pm and lands at Entebbe International Airport. If you are going to the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, there is one morning flight that departs Entebbe International Airport at 7:30am and lands at Kisoro Airfield at 9:45am.

Connecting to others Parks

It’s very possible to fly in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, combine it with Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kibale Forest National Park and Murchison Falls National Park where our tour guide will be waiting to transfer you to your Lodge and also take you for game drives and other activities there within the Park. Flying to Queen Elizabeth National Park you will land at Kasese or Mweya Airstrip and if you are going to the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park known as Ishasha and popular for tree climbing lions, then you will land in Kihihi. In Flying in Murchison Falls National Park, you will land in Bugungu airstrip for the southern sector of the Park and at Pakuba airstrip for the northern sector known as Paraa. Flying in Kidepo National Park, you will land on Lomej airstrip near Apoka Lodge.
