KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

Kibale national park is found in the west of Uganda north of the queen Elizabeth national park south of Lake Albert, the world well known Primate Park and hosts seven species of primates is also known as the primate capital of the world. The park is famous for chimpanzee tracking with over an estimated 1000 and a community of over 100 in the habituated community there is no percentage chance of missing them. In addition the chimpanzee the other primates include Colobus both black and white and red head, L’hoest, grey checked Mangabay and other. Day 1: Fly to Kibale National Park and Bigodi Swamp Visit.

Meet and greet company representative at your hotel or accommodation to drive to Entebbe airport or Kajjansi airfield, at the Kasese aerodrome you will be met by your driver guide to transfer you to the lodge near Kibale National Park, it is a scenic drive to the high altitude forest going through the tea plantations and on a clear day you are able to see the Ruwenzori mountain and it snow capped peaks. Drive to the lodge check in and lunch then, prepare for the afternoon visit to the Bigodi swamp and community, this community ecotourism project is run by the community that live around the forest and help them to conserve the forest habitat by promoting sustainable use and reduce on habitat loss while enjoying the benefits of protecting the forest and tourism, on the walk you will be able to see other primate species that live on the forest edge and also visit the local community life to learn about their ways of life and traditional practices. Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee Habituation Experience.

The chimpanzee habituation experience is a full day activity where one goes out starting at 6am to visit the chimpanzee as they leave their nests and begin their feeding. Chimpanzee habituation experience is the process the chimpanzees go through to get used to human presence and after some time these will eventually be ready to have tourist visit them on regular basis and are not bothered by their presence. With the help and guidance of the park ranger or guide you are able to learn about behavior and character of individual chimpanzee as your follow them and observe what they do, feeding habits and food types. Day 3: Morning Chimpanzee Tracking and optional Nocturnal Walk.

After breakfast you leave for the briefing and visitor reception center at kanyanchu for the chimpanzee tracking experience this is a short visit which starts at 8pm with a briefing and then distribution into teams of six per ranger guide and then you are off for the morning return not later than midday. Different from the previous day one this day the visit is limited to one hour when you come across them. What to bring also includes Drinking water not less than 2 liters, rain gear, sun lotion, bud spray, gloves, hiking boots, long pants and long sleeved shirts, long socks. After the tracking we return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon off, and then at 6.30pm we get ready to return to the forest for our nocturnal walk to find the bush babies and Bosman’s Pottos the nocturnal primates, tree hyrax and the experience of being in the jungle in the dark with flood lights. QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Queen Elizabeth national park is Uganda’s second largest park found south west of the country in the shadows of the Ruwenzori mountains, the park covers a total area of 1500 sqkms, the park has three important water bodies that impact greatly it’s ecology and sustenance of the wild life these are Lake George and Edward, the other important water body is the Kazinga channel a natural channel which connects the two lakes. The animals found in the park include buffalos, Uganda kobs, bush bucks, defassa water bucks, topis, wart-hogs, elephants and for predators they include lions, leopards, hyenas, side stripped Jackals, for the aquatics hippos and crocodiles, close 300 bird species. The park is also famous for the tree climbing lions especially in the Isasha sector found in the south of the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 4: Depart for Queen Elizabeth and katwe crater driver.

Leave for the Queen Elizabeth National Park after breakfast, departure time is 7am, the estimate 8 hour drive goes through the tea region of Uganda Tooro you will be able to see the iconic mountains of Ruwenzori also referred to as the mountains of the moon, stopover at the gardens restaurant or fort-portal town for lunch. Arrival at the park we begin with the drive through the Katwe crater area of the park, this scenic drive show case the volcanic activities which resulted in such beauty, there both dry and those filled with water, there also mammals to watch out for like elephants, antelopes and predators like leopard and lions. Day 5: Early Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Early morning breakfast at 6am, after our breakfast we head to the kasenyi sector of the park in the open plain savannah, for the drive you will be looking for lions, leopards, elephant, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, kobs and hippos in some the water ponds, return to the lodge for lunch and after drive to the Mweya peninsular to take the 2 hour water cruise on the channel along the banks you will see herds the of buffaloes, elephant, hippos, crocodiles, different water birds, return to the lodge for the overnight. Day 6: Drive to Ishasha for the Tree Climbing Lions.

After breakfast we embark on a 2 hour journey to the Ishasha Sector part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of the tree climbing lions, these lions have adapted going up the figs or acacia trees in this region, the reason why they do so is not well documented but it’s believed they do climb because of the heat and avoiding the biting insects on the ground, they normally climb during the high sun, cause it is cool up in the tree, but it may also be a hunting tactic cause during this time they’re able to scan and monitor prey movements, due to the bird eye view, after the first game drive we head to the lodge and have lunch and later for a sunset drive in the evening. BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

The gorilla park of Uganda and home to the endangered mountain gorillas, this tropical high altitude rain forest is located in far south west part of Uganda on the border of Uganda and Congo. Currently it is estimated that there’re 900 mountain gorillas in the Virungas, and Uganda area of Bwindi and Mgahinga has half of that number. Apart from the gorillas it also has big mammals such as forest elephants and buffaloes, other primates like Chimpanzees, L’hoest Monkeys, Baboons, Grey Cheeked Mangabay, Blue Monkeys and Golden Monkeys, 25 bird species endemic to the Albert rift.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive and Travel to Bwindi Mountain Gorilla Park.

Before we transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park we do a morning Game Drive in the Ishasha sector there is a choice of timing that is as early as 6am or after breakfast, also dependent on the advice of your tour guide, for lions, leopards, elephant, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, kobs, topis and hippos in some the water ponds, return to the lodge for lunch or breakfast. Day 8: Gorilla Habituation Experience

Gorilla habituation like chimpanzee habituation is the process by which gorillas get used to human presence and eventually these become comfortable and then there accept regular visit. All the families that are regularly visited underwent this process and that is the reason they not hostile to the presence and this progressive process will take up to two years at most. Gorilla habituation experience is 4 hour activity and with guide taking you through the whole process educating you about the behavior and character of every individual gorilla. Day 9: Gorilla tracking and Community eco-tourism projects.
